Montaria Reserva Lente Wine Review
Montaria Reserva Lente Wine Review
My goal is to taste the wine, make notes, and then check out other reviews. In this case it backfired a little bit.
Typically I open my red wine when I start cooking, so it usually has about 30 minutes to breath – this one might have had only 15 minutes. When I looked at the makers recommendations, it suggests 1-2 hours of breathing time – oops!
The Montaria Reserva was still lovely although just a bit sharp. This I’m sure would be taken care of if I had opened it sooner. And, of course, by the end of the bottle we were loving it.
Rich and full bodied, it paired well with a spicy bolognese over zucchini noodles topped with Asiago cheese. The current and deep fruity flavor brought me back to Portugal.
Portugal’s wine
Portugal is home to some amazing vineyards. I was lucky enough to visit several in the Alentejo region on my last trip.
Luis Vieira’s vineyard is from the Alentejo (Lente) Region where the plains meet the sea in sun-soaked harmony. Grape and olive groves cover the landscape with a lush green carpet. If you have a chance to visit, please go.
The grapes used in this vintage according to Nakewines.com are “Trincadeira for a soft, oh-so-smooth mouthfeel, Aragonez (aka Tempranillo) for its trademark savoriness, and Alicante Boushet for that full, fresh, mouth-filling fruitiness. A little aging in fancy French oak barrels and voilà – Portuguese perfection!”

Coupon offer
I have the opportunity to share a $100 off coupon good for new customers to Nakedwines.com. Try your first case at a steep discount with this coupon. If you love exploring wines, you will be hooked.
Their service brings more unique wines to the public, dubbed their “Angels.” This gives the vintners a much wider marketing reach and allows them to keep producing great wines.
When I opened my first case from Nakedwines.com, I was expecting to see lots of young wines that were still in the aging process. That, however, was not the case. These wines are full bodied and ready to enjoy.
Here is what I know about wine. Everyone’s palate is different. We all have our own preferred tastes. The opinions expressed here are mine alone. I’m just a girl who loves wine.
Hope you are enjoying your journey.

p.s. If you enjoy wine and wine reviews visit this reivew of the Gloria Ferrer Vineyards.
For wines at their best temperature, a wine cooler is key. This counter top model from NutriChef fits into any kitchen or home bar. When purchasing a wine frig, opt for a dual control since your reds and whites should be stored at different temperatures.
We will have to try and get some. I don’t believe we can get shipping from Nakedwines.com with being in Canada though.
We have lots of difficulty shipping wines to Massachusetts. Here it’s a tax issue!
Love wine and enjoyed your information. And love Portuguese wines. Thank you for sharing. And like you- I don’t always let it breathe like it needs to. But by the time the bottle is empty – it tastes good! Thanks.
I’ve never had Portuguese wine, but I do enjoy wine, great review!
Visiting a vineyard is on my bucket list! That must have been an amazing experience.
That is awesome you have a coupon for everyone!
You have to wait 1-2 hours sometimes?!? Yikes, I’ll need to buy my wine by time cause I don’t have the time to wait like that! Ha!
I need to let my wine breathe longer. Looks like a nice wine!
LOVE trying different wine!
Sounds like it was still a good wine! Great discount for the wine buyer! I love your wine tasting series..
I never knew you had to let your wine breathe? I do now! Thank you!
I don’t drink wine, but I think visiting a vineyard would still be pretty cool.
Wonderful information! Love wine – my favorite wines come from my mom’s house ha! She has the best collections running. But I, too, don’t always give them the right time to breathe!
This wine sounds great! I just put in an order with nakedwines yesterday because my sister had a coupon sent with her Kohl’s order. We’re excited to try out these new wines since we can’t go wine tasting anywhere near us in California yet.
I’m sure you will find many wines you like. It’s so great to support the small vineyards!
Not really a wine drinker! But this is great information! Thanks!
Portugal is high on my list! And I hear the wine is a treat. I like the same time of wine =)
This made me chuckle as we made the same mistake on a vintage bottle of wine when we were first dating. Thank you for the review!
My son bought a box of wines through this service for my mom for Christmas and we have been enjoying trying the different varieties. I’m not usually a wine girl, but I’m learning more about when to open the bottles to get the best flavor. I had no idea!!
That darned breathing time gets me often too! Sounds like a great wine though with some additional breathing time. cheers!
I LOVE a good bottle of wine! It’s perfect for dinner or just to sit and relax. Thanks for the suggestion on this one!
sounds delish! We loves wines of all types and this would be lovely!
I’m not a wine drinker however I like how you are doing your reviews!
I’m not a drinker so I got to learn a little about wine culture with this post. Interesting.
It sounds delicious with the bolognese and the zoodles. 😋
